Bexar County Democratic Chair Addresses Party Division, Controversy, What Comes Next

JOEY PALACIOS / TEXAS PUBLIC RADIO

The Bexar County Democratic Party has been plagued by infighting, public clashes, allegations of misconduct, court battles and even a complaint to the FBI. Why is there such division and how can the party move forward?

The party has become increasingly divided since its chair Monica Alcántara was elected in March 2018, as a faction within the party maintains loyalty to former leader Manuel Medina.

What's next for the BCDP? How does leadership plan to deal with a party that appears split in two?

Will these issues continue to affect business as usual and the party's ability to mobilize support for Democratic candidates in future elections?

Guest: Monica Alcántara, chair of the Bexar County Democratic Party
